On 31 October 2006, the First Presidency asked Area Seventies “to work with stake presidents to establish committees for multistake young single adult activities where practicable.” To that end, the North America Northwest Area Presidency has worked with stake presidents in Western Oregon and Vancouver, Washington to create multistake committees.

The Portland East Multistake Committee is presided over by President G. DeWin Harris, 1st counselor in the Gresham Stake Presidency. The Committee is used to plan activities for young single adults in the Gresham, Milwaukie, Mt. Hood, Oregon City, Portland, and Portland East Stakes.

Elder Brinkerhoff, Area Seventy, has encouraged each of the multistake committees to work together to ensure that all YSAs within Western Oregon & Southwest Washington are aware of the many significant activities being planned by the various committees.

Note: As part of the directive from the First Presidency, permission was granted for multistake committees to publish simple websites to foster awareness of multistake YSA activities.
